Български археолози разкриха римски езически храм от III-IV век в района на древното светилище на Орфей край село Татул. Те попаднаха на него при разкопки на ранно християнска църква, за която има сведения от 30-те години на миналия век, предаде БНР.
Храмът е бил много голям, каза ръководителят на разкопките при Татул професор Николай Овчаров.
„Почти квадратна сграда, с размери приблизително 10 на 11 метра, вход – монументален, от запад, прагът е запазен. Между вилата и храма е имало алея, по която са минавали тържествените шествия. Веднага след приемането, което в Източните Родопи става в самия край на IV и началото на V век, е разрушен старият езически храм и върху него е построена еднокорабна християнска базилика“, обясни професорът.
Разкопките край село Татул бяха финансирани от общината в Момчилград. Има идея местната администрация, съвместно с Кърджали, да се включи и в проучването на Перперикон.
